Sin Tax: More tax for your pleasure?

Each year, we watch, as during the budget speech, Minister of Finance after Minister of Finance (yes, we have had many), increase the taxes on our vices, be it alcohol or cigarettes and recently soft drinks and I often wonder if this has any effect on your lifestyle choices?
Does the increase on your favourite soft drink, beer or pack of cigarettes, which are in fact deemed to be bad lifestyle choices affect your decision making process in the long term? Do you weight the consequences of your lifestyle choices vs the potential health benefits against the tax on them?
What's the collective impact thereof?
